There are no direct flights to Komodo Island — the island has no airport. Every route runs through Komodo Airport (LBJ) in Labuan Bajo on Flores: fly there from Bali in 75-90 minutes (or via Jakarta), transfer ten minutes to the harbour, and finish by boat — the only way onto the island itself.

The Route in Three Steps

Step 1 — Fly to Labuan Bajo (LBJ). Multiple airlines connect Bali (DPS) to Labuan Bajo through the morning; Jakarta connects directly too. The airport’s name confuses first-timers: “Komodo Airport” sits in Labuan Bajo on Flores, not on Komodo Island. Step 2 — Airport to harbour. Ten minutes by car. Step 3 — Board a boat. Day boats reach the park’s gate islands in 1.5-2.5 hours; overnight boats make the geography irrelevant by sleeping inside the park.

Flights to Komodo (LBJ): What to Book

Seasonal schedules move — current carriers and frequencies are maintained in our flights to Labuan Bajo guide, and same-day boarding logic (land by 11:00 WITA for a midday embark) in the same-day boarding guide.

From the Harbour: Your Boat Options

The boat leg defines the trip more than the flight: speedboat day trips cover Padar, Pink Beach and the dragons in one long day; overnight phinisi turn the crossing into the holiday itself. If the journey starts in Bali, the packaged version — flights coordinated, fast track, harbour transfer, boat — is arranged end-to-end; see the full menu on our Bali to Komodo tour packages or start the planning from Komodo tour from Bali.

Common Wrong Turns

Three mistakes we un-plan weekly: booking “flights to Komodo Island” expecting to land on the island (you land at LBJ); allowing 45 minutes for an airport-harbour-boat connection that deserves two hours; and taking the multi-day ferry from Bali to “save money” — it costs the two days it saves. The ferry exists; the flight wins.

Preguntas frecuentes

Is there an airport on Komodo Island?

No. Komodo Airport (code LBJ) is in Labuan Bajo on Flores Island — the gateway town. Komodo Island itself has no airstrip, no roads and no hotels; access is by boat only.

How long is the flight from Bali to Komodo?

75-90 minutes from Bali (DPS) to Labuan Bajo (LBJ) — the flight most travellers mean when they search “flights to Komodo Island.”

¿Cómo puedo ir de Labuan Bajo Isla de Komodo?

By boat only: 1.5-2.5 hours’ sailing to the park’s main islands. Day boats and multi-day liveaboards both depart Labuan Bajo harbour, ten minutes from the airport.

Can I get to Komodo without going through Labuan Bajo?

Practically, no — Labuan Bajo is the park’s only real gateway. The exception is arriving by multi-day boat from Lombok or Sumbawa, which is a cruise choice rather than a transport hack.
