The best time for a Raja Ampat luxury cruise depends on the balance you want between conditions, crowds, and price.
This is the best overall window, with generally calmer seas and underwater visibility around 20–30 meters. Manta rays are more reliably seen at famous cleaning stations such as Manta Sandy and Blue Magic, and availability is limited, so advance booking is essential.
October and April still offer mostly calm conditions with fewer boats and, in some cases, better value. April is especially attractive for photography, with lush green landscapes and softer golden light around the islands.
From May to September, winds and seas can be rougher, especially in southern Misool, while the northern Dampier Strait usually remains more sheltered and diveable.
