1. by Air

If you want to get there by plane, you can take a flight directly connects Labuan Bajo with several cities in Indonesia, such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Makassar, Semarang, Balikpapan, Kupang, and Mataram.

If you take a flight from Bali [DPS], there are several airplanes option such as: Lion and Batik Air that provide direct flight to Labuan Bajo (LBJ). It will cost you from 700k Rupiah ($45).

If you take a flight from Jakarta [CGK], there are some direct flights and 1 stop flights. You can go to Labuan Bajo with several airlines such as Batik Air and Citilink. It will cost you from 1,300k Rupiah ($83).

The travel time from Bali to Labuan Bajo is around 1 hour 15 minutes and Jakarta to Labuan Bajo is around 2 hours 20 minutes.

You can also travel to Labuan Bajo from Gewayantana Airport in Flores, Frans Sales Lega Airport in Ruteng, or H. Hasan Aroeboesman Airport in Ende.

2. by Land

Doing a road trip to Labuan Bajo via Flores is also interesting to try. You can also start the trip from Denpasar, Bali.

You can take a bus from Denpasar, Bali to Mataram, Lombok then head to Sumbawa Island to Bima City and then continue through the journey to Sape. When you arrive at Sape, you will cross using a ferry to Labuan Bajo.

If you start from the East of Flores the route starts from these options: Larantuka, Maumere, Ende, Mbay, Bajawa, Borong, Ruteng to Labuan Bajo.

Another alternative is the northern coast route (Pantura) Flores, starting from Maumere, Maurole, Mbay, Riung, Pota, Reo then to Ruteng, Nancar, and Mboera before arriving Labuan Bajo.

3. by Water (Sea)

Another interesting way to get to Labuan Bajo and Komodo Islands is by sea transportation.

You can take the ship from PELNI which sails from Makassar, South Sulawesi or the PELNI KM Binaiya which departs from Denpasar (Benoa) to Labuan Bajo.

Labuan Bajo to Komodo Island

Unless you can afford a helicopter, you can only reach Komodo Island by boat from Labuan Bajo. The boat ride usually takes around two hours.
