Getting from Seminyak to Komodo Island takes about half a day, door to deck. The drive from Seminyak to Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS) runs 30 to 60 minutes depending on the hour, and the flight to Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo takes roughly 70 minutes. From there, a phinisi carries you into Komodo National Park, where most guests sail for three days and two nights.

There is no direct commercial connection between Seminyak and Komodo Island. The journey has three legs: a car to Ngurah Rai International Airport, a flight of just over an hour to Komodo Airport (LBJ) in Labuan Bajo, and a boat into the national park itself. Each leg is short. The friction sits in the joins — check-in queues, baggage carousels, the handover between airport and harbour — and removing those joins is what separates a smooth trip from a tiring one.

Seminyak, Kerobokan & Umalas to the Airport
Seminyak sits roughly twelve kilometres north of Ngurah Rai Airport. The distance is fixed; the drive time is not. Before 07:00 the road is clear and the transfer takes about 30 minutes. Between 08:00 and 10:00, and again from late afternoon into the evening, the same drive stretches toward a full hour. Kerobokan and Umalas add ten to fifteen minutes at the northern end. None of this is a problem if it is planned for.
Our timing rule is simple. For a flight departing before 09:00, we collect you two hours and fifteen minutes ahead of departure, while the roads are still quiet. For late-morning and midday flights, we allow two and a half hours, because the pickup falls inside the congestion window. For anything after 15:00, two and a half hours again, to sit ahead of the evening build-up. The margin is deliberate. A calm coffee at the gate costs nothing; a missed connection to a boat costs a day.
We run these pickups ourselves. The driver who collects you is on our payroll, in our vehicle, on our schedule — not a subcontracted car booked the night before. The Flight
The flight from DPS to Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo takes between one hour ten and one hour fifteen minutes. Several airlines fly the route daily. We book the morning departures whenever the schedule allows: they are the most punctual, and they put you on the water with the whole afternoon ahead of you.
The domestic terminal at DPS is manageable, but it is still a queue, a bag drop and a walk. Our VIP domestic departure service removes each step. Your luggage is taken at the kerb, check-in is handled on your behalf, and you are escorted directly to the gate. On landing in Labuan Bajo, our team meets you before the baggage belt, collects your bags, and drives you to the harbour or your hotel. The two airports become corridors rather than obstacles.
One note for guests flying into Bali from abroad before the trip: immigration at DPS is at its slowest between 18:00 and 21:00, when the long-haul arrivals land together. The Sailing
There are two ways to board a phinisi. A share trip gives you a private en-suite cabin on one of our scheduled departures, sharing the vessel with a small number of other guests; a three-day, two-night cabin runs from USD 300 to 580 per person depending on the vessel and cabin class. A private charter gives you the entire boat, your own dates and your own pace, priced per night per vessel — the sensible choice for families, groups of friends, and anyone who prefers the deck to themselves.
The standard three-day route covers the essentials without hurry: the ridge walk on Padar at first light, the dragons at Komodo or Rinca with a national park ranger, Pink Beach, and the manta cleaning stations, with quiet anchorages in between. Meals are cooked on board. The crew handles everything from snorkelling gear to sunset timing.
The Komodo National Park entrance fee is excluded and subject to prevailing government regulation; our team confirms the current amount when you book. It is charged once per trip, per person.
Booking Windows
Cabin supply is genuinely limited. A phinisi carries a handful of cabins, not hundreds, and the July-to-September high season sells out months in advance — guests writing to us in June for an August departure usually find the calendar already thin. Private charter dates in the same window go nearly as fast. April, May, June and October offer the same conditions with more room to choose.
