A Komodo boat charter costs anywhere from USD 90 per person for a shared speedboat day trip to USD 30,000 per night for the whole of the 78.2-metre flagship Komodo Signature. The price depends on one thing above all: whether you join a shared departure (priced per person) or take a whole boat privately (priced per boat, as a package by trip length and guest band on most vessel pages, or per night on the vessels that publish a nightly rate). Every figure below is taken from the rate card or package table of the vessel page or package page named, as published for 2026 and checked on 11 September 2026. Shared or private: the basis decides the bill

Two guests pay very different sums for the same three days depending on the format. On a Komodo open trip you buy one cabin on a scheduled phinisi, so the total for a couple is two cabin rates, each from USD 300 per person at the published floor. On a private yacht charter Komodo you buy the whole vessel for the trip, so the same couple pays the boat’s published 3D2N package price: USD 6,000 on Malca Voyages, a package that covers up to 12 guests.

The equation flips as the group grows. A cabin rate never falls, but a whole-boat rate is divided by every guest who steps aboard. The crossover sits around eight to twelve guests on a VIP phinisi, which is why families and friend groups tend to charter while solo travellers and couples tend to share. How much is a 3 day 2 night (3D2N) Komodo trip?

On a shared 3D2N open trip you pay USD 300 to 850 per person depending on the boat and cabin class, or from USD 220 per person on the Monday to Wednesday sailings. A private 3D2N charter is priced per boat per trip, by guest band, and each vessel page publishes a fixed 2026 package price before park charges and any taxes stated on the vessel page: Malca Voyages USD 6,000 for up to 12 guests and USD 6,700 for 13 to 18, plus USD 300 per extra guest up to its 21-guest capacity; Catnazse Liveaboard USD 7,100 for up to 12 and USD 8,000 for 13 to 18; Ayvara Cruises USD 6,200 for up to 8 and USD 7,000 for 9 to 15; Pinta Phinisi USD 6,800 for up to 4, USD 7,150 for 5 to 9 and USD 7,450 for 10 to 13, with USD 250 per additional guest listed; Naturalia USD 8,200, 9,200 and 10,100 for 1 to 8, 9 to 16 and 17 to 24 guests; Neptune Cruise USD 11,450 for up to 14 plus USD 500 per additional guest; Mosalaki IDR 152,000,000 for up to 6 and IDR 167,000,000 for 7 to 12. The table lists each vessel page’s published 3D2N private-trip package price (2026, per boat per trip, by guest band, before park charges and any taxes stated on the vessel page). No vessel page publishes a per-person figure for a private charter: the package for your band is one price shared by everyone aboard, so the per-head cost is that package divided by your group, plus any per-guest supplement above the top band. Seven of the boats are owned and operated by Komodo Luxury; Komodo Prestige and Komodo Signature form the Komodo Luxury Collection and publish per-yacht-per-night rates only, so they are not in this table. Read across any row and the pattern is the same: the package price for your band is fixed whether two or twelve guests board, so the per-head share falls with every guest you add. What the rate includes and what it never includes

Every whole-boat rate on the vessel pages carries the same core inclusions, and the same exclusions. Nothing in the second list is optional on the day, so add it to your budget before you compare boats.

Why prices differ between boats

Length, cabin count, build year and service tier drive the rate. Ayvara Cruises, a 25-metre, 7-cabin phinisi for 15 guests, lists from USD 5,500 for a 2D1N whole-boat package (1 to 8 guests); Neptune Cruise, a 40-metre phinisi with a larger deck plan and a dive deck, lists from USD 8,900 for 2D1N (1 to 14 guests). Naturalia, the newest of the group and built in 2026, sits between them from USD 7,400 for 2D1N for up to 8 guests, rising to USD 9,200 for 17 to 24 guests across three decks. Pinta Phinisi, from USD 4,900 for 2D1N (1 to 4 guests) on its 2026 package table, is the entry to the named group because it is a compact 5-cabin boat for 13.

Season matters as much as steel and teak. Peak months (June to September) and the New Year window are priced higher, and the private charter page notes that charters of 7 nights or more typically receive a 10 to 15% better nightly rate. Well-known boats are usually committed months ahead for July, August and New Year; whether a specific date is open is confirmed by the reservations desk, not by any calendar on this page.

Deposit, balance and holds

A private charter is confirmed with a 50% deposit, which the vessel pages state is non-refundable if the guest cancels. The remaining balance is due no later than 30 days before the trip. For bookings made a year in advance the terms are staged: 30% on confirmation, a further 20% 120 days before departure, and the balance 30 days before. Children aged 3 and above are charged the full rate.

Open trip cabins follow a shorter clock: payment is completed 14 days before departure and is non-refundable and non-changeable, and cancellations made 30 days or less before departure forfeit the full payment. In force majeure, weather, safety or government restrictions, a trip may be changed or cancelled without refund, so travel insurance that covers cancellation is worth arranging on the day you pay the deposit.

A date is held only once the deposit is received. Before that, a shortlist from the reservations desk shows what is open on the day you ask, and the rates hub states that USD rates hold at booking, so the figure on your written quotation is the figure that applies.
