September sits at the tail of Komodo’s dry season, which runs from April to November. Expect sun most of the day, light southeast winds, and crossings between islands that stay comfortable for guests who worry about seasickness. Water temperature holds around 25-27°C. Padar’s viewpoint stays dusty gold, which photographs better than the green of the wet months.

The dragons on Komodo and Rinca do not care what month it is. Mantas hold station at Karang Makassar year-round, with sightings on most September departures. The booking window is shorter than it looks
Here is the part most travelers misjudge. Across 1,063 bookings we tracked, 91% of the cabins a month ends up selling are already sold one month before departure. September behaves the same way. On top of that, Komodo National Park now issues dated entry tickets under an annual cap of 365,000 visitors, and in 2026 September dates were selling out five weeks ahead.
