A Komodo boat charter costs from USD 90 per person for a shared speedboat day trip to USD 30,300 for the whole boat on a seven-night private charter of our largest phinisi. The price depends on one thing above all: whether you join a shared departure, priced per person, or take a whole boat privately, priced as one package for the whole vessel by trip length and guest band, never per night. Every private-charter figure below comes from the Komodo Luxury rate cards for 2026 and 2027 (Final Edition, 11 September 2026), checked 25 September 2026, and every open-trip figure from the open-trip rate card of 21 September 2026. Boats outside those four rate cards are partner vessels: we name them, and our reservations desk quotes them in writing.

The ladder below runs from the lowest per-person entry to the whole-boat ceiling. Guest counts are the capacities printed on those rate cards.

Shared or private: the basis decides the bill

Two guests pay very different sums for the same three days depending on the format. On a Komodo open trip you buy one cabin on a scheduled phinisi, so the total for a couple is two cabin rates, each from USD 300 per person at the published floor. On a private yacht charter Komodo you buy the whole vessel for the trip, so the same couple pays the boat’s published 3D2N package price: USD 6,000 on Malca Voyages, a package that covers up to 12 guests.

The equation flips as the group grows. A cabin rate never falls, but a whole-boat rate is divided by every guest who steps aboard. The crossover sits around eight to twelve guests on a VIP phinisi, which is why families and friend groups tend to charter while solo travellers and couples tend to share. How much is a 3 day 2 night (3D2N) Komodo trip?

On a shared 3D2N open trip you pay USD 300 to 800 per person depending on the boat and the cabin class, on the open-trip rate card of 21 September 2026. A private 3D2N charter is priced per boat per trip, by guest band, and each of our four rate cards carries one fixed 2026 package figure before the park charge: Malca Voyages USD 6,000 for 1 to 12 guests and USD 6,700 for 13 to 18, with a published additional-guest figure of USD 300 that the desk applies in your quotation; Catnazse Liveaboard USD 7,100 for 1 to 12 and USD 8,000 for 13 to 18; Ayvara Cruises USD 6,200 for 1 to 8 and USD 7,000 for 9 to 15; Naturalia USD 8,200, USD 9,200 and USD 10,100 for 1 to 8, 9 to 16 and 17 to 24 guests. Longer itineraries are published the same way: Malca Voyages lists 4D3N at USD 9,000 or USD 10,050 and 7D6N at USD 18,000 or USD 20,100 by band; Catnazse 4D3N at USD 10,600 or USD 12,000 and 7D6N at USD 21,300 or USD 23,900; Naturalia 4D3N at USD 12,400, USD 13,800 or USD 15,100 and 7D6N at USD 24,700, USD 27,500 or USD 30,300. Package prices on the named boats (3D2N, whole boat)

The table lists the published 3D2N private-trip package price for each boat we hold a rate card for (2026, per boat per trip, by guest band, before the park charge). No private charter is priced per person: the package for your band is one price shared by everyone aboard, so the per-head cost is that package divided by your group, plus any additional-guest figure the desk applies above the top band. Four of the rows are the boats on our own rate cards, Malca Voyages, Ayvara Cruises, Catnazse Liveaboard and Naturalia. The other rows are partner vessels, named without a figure, because we publish neither partner rates nor partner calendars. Figures are before the park charge and any drone permit, and each of our own rows states the capacity on the rate card.

Read across any row and the pattern is the same: the package price for your band is fixed whether two or twelve guests board, so the per-head share falls with every guest you add. A full boat on Malca Voyages (USD 6,700 for 13 to 18 guests, with the published additional-guest figure of USD 300 applied by the desk up to its 21-guest capacity) or on Naturalia (USD 10,100 for 17 to 24 guests, with private balconies and bathtubs in the upper cabins) spreads one published package across the largest group the rate card allows.

What the rate includes and what it never includes

Every whole-boat rate on the vessel pages carries the same core inclusions, and the same exclusions. Nothing in the second list is optional on the day, so add it to your budget before you compare boats.

• Accommodation on board for the whole trip, in en-suite cabins
• All meals during the trip, prepared by the boat’s chef, with mineral water, coffee and tea
• A guide, snorkelling gear and life vests
• Premium photo and video documentation with drone, GoPro and mirrorless cameras (raw footage only)
• Pick-up and drop-off between your hotel or the airport and the harbour, within the Labuan Bajo mainland area

Never included

• The Komodo National Park charge, set under Government Regulation No. 36/2024 as displayed by the Balai: IDR 250,000 per international visitor per day, IDR 50,000 per Indonesian visitor per day (IDR 75,000 on Sundays and public holidays); our desk registers guests, pays the park and lists the park line separately on the invoice
• The drone permit for the park: IDR 2,000,000 per unit per day on the same PP 36/2024 table, not mandatory, requested at least 7 days before the trip
• Alcohol and other drinks beyond water, coffee and tea; personal snacks
• Crew gratuities and flights to Labuan Bajo
• Taxes and fees as stated on your quotation; on partner and VVIP vessels the tax treatment belongs to that vessel’s own terms, and for every boat it is confirmed in writing before payment
• Diving, quoted as an add-on for certified divers

Why prices differ between boats

Length, cabin count, build year and service tier drive the rate. Ayvara Cruises, a 7-cabin phinisi for 15 guests, lists USD 5,500 for a 2D1N whole-boat package (1 to 8 guests); Malca Voyages, a 7-cabin phinisi for 21 guests with a jacuzzi and an outdoor bathtub, lists USD 5,300 for the same trip length (1 to 12 guests). Naturalia, the newest of the four and built in 2026, sits above both at USD 7,400 for 2D1N for 1 to 8 guests, rising to USD 9,200 for 17 to 24 guests across three decks. Catnazse Liveaboard, an 8-cabin phinisi for 18 guests, is the only one of the four whose rate card runs as far as 12D11N. Pinta Phinisi and Neptune Cruise are partner vessels, named here without figures.

Season changes the calendar more than it changes the rate card. Our four cards publish one figure per guest band per year, so a June sailing and a March sailing on the same boat and the same band carry the same package price. Longer trips carry their own package figure rather than a nightly multiple: on Malca Voyages the 7D6N package is USD 18,000 for 1 to 12 guests against USD 6,000 for 3D2N on the same band. Bookings reach our desk about two months ahead; whether a specific date is open is confirmed by the reservations desk, not by any calendar on this page.

Deposit, balance and holds

A private charter is confirmed with a 50% deposit, which our published terms state is non-refundable if the guest cancels. The remaining balance is due on the balance date printed on your invoice. That date is set when the desk issues the invoice, so a booking made a year ahead and a booking made a month ahead do not share one schedule. Children aged 3 and above are charged the full rate under the terms the desk sends.

Open trip cabins follow a shorter clock: the balance date on an open-trip invoice falls closer to departure than on a private charter, and the payment is non-refundable and non-changeable once made. In force majeure, weather, safety or government restrictions, a trip may be changed or cancelled without refund, so travel insurance that covers cancellation is worth arranging on the day you pay the deposit.

A date is held only once the deposit is received. Before that, a shortlist from the reservations desk shows what is open on the day you ask, and your written quotation names the figure, the guest band and the year it applies to, which is the figure the desk then invoices.

What is the lowest-cost way to see Komodo by boat?

Are 2027 Komodo charter prices higher than 2026?

On two of our four boats, no. Malca Voyages and Ayvara Cruises publish the same figures for 2027 as for 2026. Catnazse Liveaboard and Naturalia rise: Catnazse 3D2N for 1 to 12 guests moves from USD 7,100 to USD 7,800, and Naturalia 3D2N for 1 to 8 guests from USD 8,200 to USD 8,500. The year is chosen by your sailing date, not your booking date, and your written quotation names the year it applies to. Partner vessels are quoted by our reservations desk in writing.
