Lombok to Flores by boat is a question our reservations desk answers most days, and the answer usually improves the trip. The 4D3N crossing on this page is a one-way sailing from Lombok to Labuan Bajo on partner phinisi vessels: roughly two days on open water past Sumbawa, then Komodo National Park, ending in Labuan Bajo with no return to Lombok. For guests whose goal is the park itself, the desk arranges a different plan. Fly from Lombok to Labuan Bajo, direct when available or via Bali, where the Bali to Komodo Airport leg is about 1 hour 20 minutes. Thirty minutes after leaving Labuan Bajo harbour you are inside Komodo National Park on one of our own boats.
The crossing is operated by partner vessels, not by our own fleet. All our vessels are based in Labuan Bajo for your safety and comfort: every night in a sheltered bay and every day inside the park among Padar, Pink Beach, the dragons and Manta Point. We say this plainly because the weather between Lombok and Flores is the least predictable part of the whole route. On the crossing, most of the holiday is spent getting there rather than being there.
The Lombok to Flores route runs east from Kayangan harbour in East Lombok, across the Alas Strait and along the north coast of Sumbawa. Stops come at Kenawa, Saleh Bay and Satonda before the boat crosses the Sape Strait into Komodo National Park and finishes at Labuan Bajo. Of the four days, roughly two are open water before the park. From Labuan Bajo, by comparison, the park begins 30 minutes after leaving the harbour. A 3D2N shared sailing or a private charter from there spends the whole trip inside it: three full days in the park versus about one, for the same holiday time.
Komodo Luxury (Labuan Bajo, since 2015) lists this crossing as a partner-operated departure. Our own four boats, Ayvara, Malca, Catnazse and Naturalia, sail from Labuan Bajo only, and that is where the desk starts when a guest's goal is the park. Either way, we check availability for your exact dates and confirm it in writing, and the park ticket is registered by our desk and billed as its own line per person on your invoice.
