Sail Komodo in 2027 between April and November, and settle your dates between January and March if July or August matters to you. Our reservations desk runs two calendars at once: the sea calendar our captains read from the monsoon, and the booking calendar that follows when guests commit. Komodo Luxury (Labuan Bajo, since 2015) publishes this month-by-month view from its own 2027 sailing roster. Everything below is written the way we answer it on the desk.
Quick answer (25 September 2026): Sail April to November. Settle July and August 2027 dates between January and March. Guests booked about two months ahead on average. Our own four boats are taking 2027 dates now; every date is confirmed in writing.

When should I sail Komodo in 2027, and when should I book?
Sail between April and November; decide between January and March. The two answers differ because the two clocks differ. The weather clock is simple: the dry season runs April to November, July and August bring the driest decks, and the west monsoon governs December to February with rain cells and choppier open water. The booking clock is the one people misread, because demand for mid-year departures piles into the first quarter rather than spreading evenly across the year.
Two definitions make the rest of this page easier to read. A private charter is the whole boat for your group alone, priced per package by guest band, on dates you choose. A Komodo open trip is a scheduled shared sailing of three days and two nights, sold per cabin, on a fixed Friday-to-Sunday or Monday-to-Wednesday rhythm. Whole-boat dates need earlier decisions, because one group holds every berth.
From our reservations desk. Of 11,254 guest messages to our concierge desk (2025 to 2026), 264 across 159 conversations named 2027 outright, which is 13.1 per cent of the 1,189 conversations we counted. Availability was its own theme in 854 messages over the same window. The questions behind them, in order: which month should we sail, is the boat free on our dates, and how early must we decide. This post answers them in that order.
What does the 2027 calendar look like month by month?
Each 2027 month carries its own sea state and its own booking pressure, and the two do not always point the same way. March sails moderately well and books hard; October sails well and still books late. The table sets them side by side.

Which 2027 dates are already bookable, and which months are filling?
Four boats are ours to sell for 2027 directly: Malca, Ayvara, Catnazse and Naturalia. Their 2027 dates are open now, and 46 invoices on our books already carry a 2027 departure date. Every other boat on our charter list is a partner vessel: we can name it and describe it, but its dates and its price are quoted by our reservations desk in writing.

Prices help you judge how early to commit. On our own boats a 3D2N private charter is one package total for the whole boat: from USD 6,000 on Malca for 1 to 12 guests, USD 6,200 on Ayvara for 1 to 8, USD 7,800 on Catnazse for 1 to 12 and USD 8,500 on Naturalia for 1 to 8. Guest count sets the band. These are priced per package for the whole boat, not per person, and we do not convert them into a nightly figure. A shared cabin moves on a different rhythm. Open trip berths on the same four boats start from USD 300 per person for a 3D2N sailing (Malca, triple cabin at three guests, 2027 published rate, checked 25 September 2026), park charges separate. Cabins sell one at a time, so a single berth in a busy month is often easier to place than a whole boat on the same date. The schedule sits on our shared 3D2N cabin departures.
How do I check Komodo yacht charter availability for my 2027 dates?
You ask the desk, and the desk checks the roster for your exact dates. No live calendar can answer it honestly, because a boat can be on hold for another group while a page still shows it as free. Here is the sequence we use every day.
- Decide the shape of the trip. Whole boat for your group alone, or a cabin on a scheduled shared sailing. That single choice changes how early you need to move.
- Send three things. Your dates or a date window, your guest count, and how the group splits into cabins. That is enough for us to check availability and confirm it in writing.
- Read the quotation, not the range. It names the boat, the guest band, the duration and the year. Itinerary, services, taxes, payment and cancellation terms are confirmed there, not in a published table.
- Hold, then confirm. A cabin can only be held for 2 x 24 hours (48 hours). Reservations cannot be confirmed until we have received the payment; the rest falls due on the balance date printed on your invoice.
- Send passenger details for the park ticket. Full name as in the passport, passport number, nationality and gender, for every guest. We register the tickets for your sailing dates and confirm them back to you.

Does the national park ticket change how I plan 2027?
It does, in one way: your ticket is now welded to your date. Since 22 September 2026 the park authority requires every visitor to enter on the exact date printed on the e-ticket (announcement published by Balai Taman Nasional Komodo on its official channels, 22 September 2026). Quota for 2027 has not been published. We do not sell quota and we do not promise it; availability is confirmed at registration, per date, in writing. Tickets are non-refundable, and a date change means registering again, so tell the desk the moment your plans move.
The charge itself sits outside the trip price. It is set under Government Regulation No. 36/2024 as displayed by the Balai: IDR 250,000 per international visitor per day, IDR 50,000 per Indonesian visitor per day (IDR 75,000 on Sundays and public holidays), published on the Balai Taman Nasional Komodo tariff page. Is December 2027 worth sailing?
December is worth it for the right trip, planned the right way. The monsoon is real: rain cells, warm water, and itineraries that favour sheltered anchorages over long open crossings. In exchange you get the park at its greenest and anchorages with very few boats in them. The month behaves in two halves. Early December is the loosest part of our calendar, and flexible travellers place trips there on short notice. The festive fortnight is the opposite: Christmas and New Year weeks concentrate whole-boat demand into a fixed set of dates, worth settling by September 2027 with itinerary flexibility built in as a condition of the season.

What is the one-line version of the 2027 calendar?
Travel April to November, decide January to March, and treat July and August as a January decision rather than a March one. Sightings are not guaranteed; the ranger-guided walk is how you look for them. We are plain about the arithmetic: the boats we own are the ones whose 2027 dates we can open today, and everything else is a written quotation from the desk.
