Is 2 days 1 night enough for Komodo, and can we book it? Our reservations desk answers that pair most days: yes to both, with one condition. At Komodo Luxury a Komodo 2 days 1 night sails as a whole-boat private charter. Here is what one night covers, what the four boats cost per package, and how the booking runs.
Quick answer: One night in Komodo covers the Komodo dragons, the Padar viewpoint and Pink Beach; the second night is what reaches Manta Point and Taka Makassar. Komodo Luxury sails 2 days 1 night as a whole-boat private charter on Malca, Ayvara, Catnazse or Naturalia, priced per package, from USD 5,300 (Malca, 1 to 12 guests, 2026 rate card, checked 12 September 2026). Park charges are quoted separately.
The full 3D2N circuit is on our Komodo 3D2N itinerary post; for one night against a day trip, see Komodo day trip vs overnight. Everything below is written the way we answer it on the desk.
What does one night in Komodo actually cover?
Day 1: Labuan Bajo into the park
You board in Labuan Bajo in the morning, at a time agreed with you; our scheduled sailings collect guests from hotels between 08:00 and 09:00. A typical one-night route runs to Kelor Island for a hill walk and a snorkel, Manjarite for a second reef, then Kalong Island for the flying foxes at dusk, where you anchor for the night.
Day 2: Padar, Pink Beach, the dragons, and home
Day two starts early with the Padar trek, then Pink Beach for a swim and a snorkel, then Komodo Island for the ranger-guided walk to see the dragons; sightings are not guaranteed; the ranger-guided walk is how you look for them. The boat then sails back to Labuan Bajo. The 2D1N return time is confirmed by the reservations desk for your charter, so ask for it in writing before you book onward flights.
What one night does not reach
Manta Point and Taka Makassar sit on the second full day of a 3D2N. One night gives you the dragons, Padar and Pink Beach; the second night is what reaches Manta Point and Taka Makassar. If the mantas are the reason you are coming, read the 3D2N day by day first. The Harbour Master regulates all sailing, so any itinerary is tentative and may change with sea conditions.
Why do we sail 2D1N as a private charter?
Our scheduled shared sailings run a fixed 3D2N rhythm: Friday to Sunday, and Monday to Wednesday on selected boats. A cabin buys a place on that rhythm. A single night does not fit into it, so at Komodo Luxury a 2D1N means the whole boat is yours: the dates, the pace, and a crew and chef serving your group alone.
We are plain about the arithmetic. For a couple, a private 2D1N works out higher per person than a cabin on a shared 3D2N. For a family of six, two couples or a small group, the rate is shared across everyone on board and one night often makes more sense. If one night is fixed and the budget is not, the desk also shows you the shared 3D2N cabin and a private day trip.
Which boat, and what does a 2D1N cost per package?
We quote 2D1N private charters on four boats, all booked directly through the Komodo Luxury reservations desk: Ayvara (7 cabins, up to 15 guests), Malca (7 cabins, up to 21), Catnazse (8 cabins, up to 18) and Naturalia (8 cabins, up to 24).
| Boat | Guest band | 2D1N 2026 (USD, whole boat) | 2D1N 2027 (USD, whole boat) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Malca | 1 to 12 | USD 5,300 | USD 5,300 |
| Malca | 13 to 18 | USD 6,000 | USD 6,000 |
| Ayvara | 1 to 8 | USD 5,500 | USD 5,500 |
| Ayvara | 9 to 15 | USD 6,200 | USD 6,200 |
| Catnazse | 1 to 12 | USD 5,900 | USD 6,400 |
| Catnazse | 13 to 18 | USD 6,800 | USD 7,400 |
| Naturalia | 1 to 8 | USD 7,400 | USD 7,600 |
| Naturalia | 9 to 16 | USD 8,200 | USD 8,500 |
| Naturalia | 17 to 24 | USD 9,200 | USD 9,500 |
The basis is per package for the whole boat, not per person; we do not convert it into a nightly figure. Malca’s card also lists an additional-guest rate of USD 250 per guest per 2D1N package in both years, separate from the charter total; capacity and applicability are confirmed in your quotation. Rates are presented for review and are not a booking offer: itinerary, services, taxes, payment and cancellation terms are confirmed in your quotation, and rates apply to the year issued and may change annually.
Komodo National Park entry and activity charges are quoted separately for your itinerary; they are set by the park authority and go on your invoice as an itemised line.
Who is a Komodo 2 days 1 night right for?
- Short stays and Bali connections. Fly in, sail the next morning, fly out the day after.
- Families with young children. A shorter trip at your own pace; children aged 3 and above pay the full rate under the published child policy.
- Two couples or a small group. The whole-boat rate is shared across the group, and the lowest band on each boat covers up to 8 or 12 guests.
- Guests with an overland Flores plan. One night on the water before or after the land days.
Choose 3D2N instead if Manta Point and Taka Makassar are the point of the trip, or if it is your first visit and you would rather not choose between the dragons and the mantas. Our 3D2N vs 4D3N post takes the comparison further, and the 3D2N Komodo tour page carries the shared and private options.
How do we book a 2D1N private charter?
- Send your dates. Tell the desk your dates, the number of guests including children, and any boat preference. We check availability for your exact dates and confirm it in writing.
- Hold for 2 x 24 hours. The sales team places a 48-hour hold during office hours, 09:00 to 17:00 WITA, and sends the reservation form with your personal deposit link. Please do not pay before the hold is confirmed; unpaid holds are released.
- Form and Terms. Return the reservation form for all passengers and the signed Terms and Conditions. The desk issues the invoice; once payment is received and verified, the invoice is your booking confirmation.
- Deposit as published. A 50% down payment secures a booking, with full payment no later than 30 days before departure. For bookings made one year in advance, a 30% deposit confirms the charter; an additional 20% of the deposit is paid 120 days before the trip, with the remaining balance due no later than 30 days before departure. The terms of the specific vessel may apply; bank charges are borne by the sender.
- Park tickets. Send each guest’s full name, passport number, gender and nationality; park charges go on the invoice as a separate line and are non-refundable once purchased.
- Flights last. Fly out of Labuan Bajo the day after the charter if you can; for a same-evening flight, have the desk confirm the day-two return time in writing before you buy.
Cancellation follows the published policy: payments are non-refundable and a booking cannot be rescheduled or transferred, though you may nominate a replacement person. In force majeure the trip may be changed or cancelled without refund, following the Terms and Conditions of your boat.
FAQ
Is 2 days 1 night enough to see the Komodo dragons and Padar?
Yes. The dragons and Padar both sit on day two of a 2D1N, with Pink Beach, so one night covers the three land stops most guests want. It does not reach Manta Point and Taka Makassar; those need the second night. Dragon sightings are not guaranteed; the ranger-guided walk on Komodo Island is where you look for them.
Can we join a shared 2D1N boat, or is it private only?
With Komodo Luxury a 2D1N is a private charter of the whole boat. Our scheduled shared sailings run a fixed 3D2N rhythm, Friday to Sunday and Monday to Wednesday on selected boats, and a cabin booking is a place on that rhythm. If sharing matters more than the length, we show you the shared 3D2N cabin first.
How much is a 2D1N private charter for a family of six?
Six guests fall in the lowest band on all four boats. Per 2D1N package, whole boat, 2026 rate card: Malca USD 5,300 (1 to 12 guests), Ayvara USD 5,500 (1 to 8), Catnazse USD 5,900 (1 to 12), Naturalia USD 7,400 (1 to 8); 2027 card: Malca and Ayvara unchanged, Catnazse USD 6,400, Naturalia USD 7,600. Children aged 3 and above count as guests; park charges are quoted separately.
What time do we get back on day two, and can we fly out the same evening?
The day-two return time is confirmed by the reservations desk for your charter; it depends on the boat, the order of stops and the day’s conditions. We suggest flying out the following day where you can. If you need a same-evening flight, tell us before you buy it and we confirm the return time in writing first.
Are park fees included in the 2D1N price?
No. Komodo National Park entry and activity charges are quoted separately for your itinerary and sit outside the package rate. The desk arranges the tickets with each guest’s full name, passport number, gender and nationality, and adds them to the invoice as a separate line; purchased tickets are non-refundable.
Which boat is best for a 2D1N with two couples?
Four guests sit in the lowest band on every boat, so it comes down to layout. Malca and Ayvara have 7 cabins each, Catnazse and Naturalia 8, and every cabin is yours to allocate. Tell the desk how you want the cabins split and we send the cabin plans with availability for your dates.
What is the difference between 2D1N and 3D2N for first-time visitors?
One night covers the dragons, Padar and Pink Beach. Two nights add a full day for Manta Point and Taka Makassar and an unhurried second morning. For a first visit with dates to spare we usually suggest 3D2N; for a fixed short window, a private 2D1N gets you the land highlights without a rush.
If you have your dates, send them with your guest count to the reservations desk on WhatsApp at +62 811 3823 875 or [email protected]. We check availability for your exact dates, confirm in writing, and send the 2D1N package figure for your group. Inclusions and the enquiry form are on the Komodo private trip page.
