Komodo National Park Quota Update: 22 September 2026

On 22 September 2026, Balai Taman Nasional Komodo, the authority that runs Komodo National Park, announced two changes. Every visitor must now enter the park on the date printed on their e-ticket, and the daily quota for September to December 2026 is being raised, by at least 500 a day, using quota left unused earlier in the year and quota reallocated from cruise ships. The cap of 1,000 visitors a day announced in April 2026 stays in place. If you sail with Komodo Luxury, our reservations desk registers your ticket for your sailing dates and confirms it in writing. What did the park authority announce on 22 September 2026?

Announcement PG.46/T.17/TU/KSA.04.01/B/09/2026, signed by the acting head of the Balai, makes five points: carrying-capacity management has run since April 2026; some visitors have been entering earlier than their ticketed date, so entry must match the e-ticket date; the daily quota for September to December is adjusted upward with unused quota from earlier months and a cruise-ship quota review, and visitors should check availability first; the adjustment is at least 500 per day, made periodically; monitoring continues and all park users must follow the rules.

Why must I enter on the date printed on my e-ticket?

Because the ticket is the quota. Under the reservation system described by the head of the Balai on 5 February 2026, every visitor is registered through the SiOra application no later than the day before the visit, against that date’s allocation. A visitor who lands a day early is counted against a date that was never reserved; the 22 September notice closes that gap. On a multi-day sailing this matters when the route is re-sequenced at short notice, which is why the desk keeps landing plan and ticket dates aligned before departure.

How much extra quota is being added for September to December 2026?

At least 500 per day, added periodically, according to the notice. The baseline remains the figure the Ministry of Forestry published on 15 April 2026: 1,000 visitors a day, about 365,000 a year, applied from 1 April 2026 at Padar, Rinca and Komodo and 23 dive sites. The ministry said on 24 April 2026 that the annual figure is not static and may be reviewed as facilities on Padar are improved. Location-level figures were reported by RRI on 20 April 2026: 1,000 a day at Loh Buaya, 750 at Loh Liang and 300 at South Padar. On 5 February 2026 the Balai described South Padar timed entry as three sessions of up to 330 people each (05:00-08:00, 08:00-11:00 and 15:00-18:00 WITA). Those two South Padar figures come from different dates; the number that applies to your date is the one shown at registration.

Does this mean Komodo National Park was sold out?

We cannot verify that any month in 2026 sold out; the notice itself refers to quota that went unused in earlier months. What is verified is narrower: dates are managed one by one, South Padar is session-controlled, and once a date’s allocation is used, registration for that date closes (on 4 April 2026 the daily allocation was reached and late arrivals were turned away from Padar). Treat any “fully booked” claim about a whole month, including on our own older pages, as unconfirmed until the park says so.

This is the question our concierge desk hears most this month. Of 11,254 guest messages to our concierge desk (2025-2026), 339 touched park fees or quota, and 245 of the 246 explicit questions on the topic arrived in September 2026. In September alone, 264 messages across 199 conversations asked about the park ticket: 65% asked how much it costs, 55% whether it was included or already paid, 39% about quota or availability, and 15% about changing dates or refunds.

What is the park entrance tariff in 2026?

The Balai displays its tariff under Government Regulation 36/2024 on its entrance fees and carrying-capacity page. As shown on that table: the entrance ticket is IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, and IDR 50,000 per Indonesian visitor per day on ordinary days (IDR 75,000 on Sundays and national holidays); scuba diving is IDR 25,000 per person per day; a drone is IDR 2,000,000 per unit per day; vessel entry is charged per boat by engine power or passenger capacity. The table states that purchased tickets cannot be cancelled or refunded. Government tariffs are set in rupiah; all our own trip prices are published in USD and the park ticket is never part of them.

One caution on the amount. The park became a public service agency (PPK-BLU) on 22 July 2026, and a Ministry of Finance regulation on BLU service tariffs was still being prepared as of 25 July 2026. Until a new tariff is published, the amount on your invoice is confirmed by our desk at booking, not copied from an article.

What does the Komodo Luxury reservations desk do with my ticket?

Once your booking is confirmed, the desk registers every guest from the details you provide (full name as in the passport, passport or ID number, nationality, gender) for the dates of the sailing, pays the park in rupiah and shows the park line separately on your invoice. You receive written confirmation. This applies to a shared 3D2N Komodo open trip and to a private Komodo charter alike. What should I do if my travel dates change?

Tell the desk before anything else. A ticket is dated and name-matched, non-refundable once purchased, and moving it means registering again for a date that still has allocation. Ask any operator before you pay: is the ticket for my date registered in my name, and on which date? Can I enter Komodo National Park a day earlier than the date on my e-ticket?

No. Since the Balai’s notice of 22 September 2026, every visitor must enter on the date printed on the e-ticket. A ticket does not carry over to another date; a change means registering again for a date with available quota.

Is the Komodo National Park quota being increased in late 2026?

Yes, for September to December 2026. The park is adding unused quota from earlier months and reallocated cruise-ship quota to the daily allocation, at least 500 per day, in periodic adjustments, and asks visitors to check availability before travelling.

Is the daily cap still 1,000 visitors?

The Ministry of Forestry set 1,000 a day, about 365,000 a year, from 1 April 2026, and described the figure as adaptive on 24 April 2026. The 22 September notice adjusts the daily distribution; it does not replace the cap.

How much is the Komodo National Park entrance fee in 2026?

Under PP 36/2024 as displayed by the Balai, the entrance ticket is IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day and IDR 50,000 per Indonesian visitor per day (IDR 75,000 on Sundays and holidays). Who registers my park ticket when I sail with Komodo Luxury?

Our reservations desk registers every guest for the sailing dates from the passport details on your booking, pays the park in rupiah and lists the park line separately on your invoice, with written confirmation. You do not need the SiOra app.

Can Komodo Luxury promise park quota for my dates?

No operator can promise it. Quota belongs to the park and is confirmed at registration, date by date. What we do is register early once your dates are fixed, confirm the ticket in writing, and tell you at once if a date has no allocation left.
