The balanced answer from our itinerary desk: seven days = four nights in Bali plus three nights at sea; ten days = five Bali nights, four sea nights, and one buffer night in Labuan Bajo before the flight home. That ratio keeps the trip feeling like a holiday rather than a logistics exercise — and it is the shape most of our two-city guests settle on.
| Trip length | Bali | At sea | Buffer |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 days | 4 nights | 3 nights (3D2N+embark day) | — |
| 8 days | 4 nights | 3 nights | 1 night Labuan Bajo |
| 10 days | 5 nights | 4 nights | 1 night Labuan Bajo |
Day by day: the 7-day shape
Days 1-4: land DPS, villa base (Ubud for green quiet, Uluwatu for private clifftops, Nusa Dua for families), day touring at your pace with our Bali team. Day 5: first flight to Labuan Bajo, embark by late morning, Padar and Pink Beach by afternoon. Days 5-7: the classic Komodo loop — dragons at Loh Liang, Manta Point, Taka Makassar — disembark on day 7 and fly out via Bali.
Day by day: the 10-day shape
The extra three days buy slower mornings: a fifth Bali night, a fourth sea night that adds Gili Lawa or Siaba, and a Labuan Bajo buffer night that removes all same-day-flight risk before your international connection. Our two-city teams handle each handoff — the same group runs your villa transfers and your harbour tender.
Choosing your sea leg
Three tiers, three owners of the intent: shared cabins on the 3D2N open trip; a whole traditional hull via luxury phinisi Komodo; or the full-freedom format of a private yacht charter. The packaged two-city version is our Komodo tour from Bali.
When to go, when to book
Season logic lives in our best time to visit Komodo guide — the one-line version: April-November is the dry season, September-October the sweet spot. On timing, our ledger of 1,063 bookings puts the median at 74 days before departure; the full curve is in how far in advance to book.
The one official fee to know
Komodo National Park issues dated entry tickets at IDR 650,000 (≈ USD 40) per person — the system, caps and buying process are covered in our park entry permit guide.
Why one group makes the itinerary smoother
Nine owned vessels mean the boat can flex if weather reorders your days. Our own cars at both airports mean no vendor gaps at 6 a.m. And airport-to-harbour transfer in Labuan Bajo — a Juara Holding Group company — moves your luggage from belt to tender without you touching a trolley. Bali villa and day-tour inventory comes through Bali villa and day tour packages — our sister company Bali Premium Trip, part of Juara Holding Group.
Variations
8D7N suits guests who want the buffer night without a fifth Bali day. Serious divers extend eastward: the same planning logic scales to a Raja Ampat season — ask the desk for the combined-region calendar.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 7 days enough for both Bali and Komodo?
Yes — four Bali nights plus the 3D2N sea leg covers both signatures without rushing. Ten days upgrades the pace from efficient to unhurried.
Should the Bali leg come before or after the sea leg?
Before. Bali absorbs jet lag, and the first morning flight to Labuan Bajo makes same-day embarkation reliable. Keep a buffer night in Labuan Bajo at the end if your international flight is tight.
How many sea nights do first-timers actually need?
Two nights (3D2N) covers Padar, the dragons, Pink Beach and Manta Point. Three or four sea nights add the quieter northern anchorages most day boats never reach.
Can the itinerary be adjusted mid-trip if weather changes?
Yes. With nine owned vessels and our own ground teams in both cities, captains reorder days rather than cancel them — and your trip manager rebooks the land pieces in the same thread.
