Seven Seas Liveaboard — Raja Ampat

Eight state rooms across three decks. Cabins 7 and 9 are double cabins on the upper deck with big windows, and cabin 9 opens directly onto the aft lounge. On the lower deck, cabins 5 and 6 are double cabins insulated from the engine room, cabins 3 and 4 is rooms with a double bed and, and cabins 1 and 2 forward have single bunk beds.

The upper-deck cabins, 7 and 9, have big windows and sit beside the sundeck, with cabin 9 opening onto the aft lounge. The six lower-deck state rooms sit closer to the waterline, which many guests find quieter for sleeping — and cabins 5 and 6 are shielded from the engine room by an insulated isolation wall. The en-suite bathroom, hot water, air conditioning and hairdryer are the same throughout.

Yes. Starlink WiFi covers all cabins and common areas with no restriction. The boat also carries an Iridium satellite phone, SSB, VHF and a SPOT tracker, though satellite phone use is charged separately.

Yes. The main deck has a camera table with its own charging station, set right beside the dive deck rather than tucked into the dining area.

The main deck holds the air-conditioned lounge and dining area, with windows that open fully, plus the galley, camera table and an entertainment system with DVD, TV and stereo. Above it the spacious sundeck carries lounge chairs and day beds and doubles as the outdoor dining area, with a second day-bed area towards the stern.

Yes, nitrox is on the inclusions list, along with full dive tanks, weights and weight belts, a dive master and a 15L tank subject to availability. Gear and wetsuit rental is charged separately, and 12 sets of rental equipment are carried on board.

A shaded, spacious dive deck forward on the main deck with two deck showers and dedicated gear storage, served by twin 9 CFM Schiffauer compressors and 24 aluminium 12-litre tanks. Twelve sets of rental dive equipment, snorkelling gear and wet suits are carried on board.

Three tenders: two 6.5-metre fibreglass boats on twin 40hp outboards taking six divers each, plus a single-engine fibreglass boat for four. Running three means a group of 14 is never waiting on one tender to return.

Seven Seas works the wider Bird’s Head Seascape rather than a single loop. Her Raja Ampat itineraries take in Wayag, whose karst cliffs rise like castle walls and are best explored by sea kayak; the legendary dive sites around Misool, with caves and underground rivers among the rocky islands to its southeast; Batanta; the Fam Islands; the beehive-shaped karst of the Wagmab island chain; and the enormous atoll around Ayau Island to the north. The exact route depends on conditions and trip length.

Kayaks, a stand-up paddleboard, speedboat tours and beach visits are all on the inclusions list, so non-divers travel on the same charter without paying for dives they will not use. Land tours ashore are arranged separately.

Two life rafts for 20 people each, 40 adult and 10 infant life jackets, and an AED on board. Conditions at every dive site are checked before the dive.
