The question our reservations desk hears about Komodo and Raja Ampat is rarely which one. It is: can we do both in one trip, how do we connect Labuan Bajo and Sorong, how many days do we need, and is it one boat or two?
Quick answer: Yes. Komodo and Raja Ampat combine as one 12 to 17 day journey, normally two charters: a private Komodo charter from Labuan Bajo, then a Raja Ampat vessel from Sorong, joined by a travel day via Bali or Jakarta. One vessel for both parks is quoted per vessel and route. Start with our Raja Ampat tour packages; we check your dates and confirm in writing.
We arrange both ends, Komodo from Labuan Bajo and Raja Ampat from Sorong, within our Indonesia expedition cruises.
What a combined Komodo and Raja Ampat trip actually looks like

Raja Ampat is an archipelago off the Bird’s Head Peninsula in Southwest Papua: four main islands and around 1,500 smaller ones inside the Coral Triangle, designated a UNESCO Global Geopark. Komodo National Park lies far to the west. That distance makes a combined trip two voyages with two boarding points: Labuan Bajo (Komodo Airport, LBJ) for Komodo; Sorong (SOQ) for Raja Ampat, with some vessels boarding in Waisai on Waigeo. Getting from Labuan Bajo to Sorong
The usual connections
At the time of writing we are not aware of a scheduled direct flight between Labuan Bajo and Sorong. Guests connect through Denpasar (Bali) or Jakarta, sometimes with a second stop in Makassar. Schedules and fares change, so we list no timetables: check the current schedule for your dates. Approaches from abroad are in how to get to Raja Ampat.

How much time to allow
Allow a full travel day: disembark in Labuan Bajo late morning, fly to Bali or Jakarta in the afternoon, overnight, then fly on to Sorong. On the last Komodo day the boat is normally back alongside between 11:00 and 12:00; we recommend a flight departing 14:00 or later, and the airport drop-off is arranged. On a private charter the return hour is set with you.
The desk’s flight rule
Secure both boats first, then buy flights. Once both vessels are confirmed, send us the flight details: the day-one pickup in Labuan Bajo (08:00 to 09:00 from your hotel, or timed to your arrival on a private charter), the last-day drop-off and the Sorong pickup follow the flights you hold. The public Waisai crossing is covered in From Sorong to Raja Ampat.
How many days do you need in each park
Komodo works as a package: private charters of 3D2N, 4D3N or 5D4N from Labuan Bajo cover the dragons, Padar, Pink Beach and Manta Point, and 4D3N is the length we suggest most for a combined trip. Raja Ampat is a longer voyage; each vessel page and your quotation state the voyage lengths that vessel offers.
| Total | Komodo leg (Labuan Bajo) | Connection | Raja Ampat leg (Sorong) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 days | 4D3N, days 1 to 4 | Day 5 travel, night in Sorong | 6 nights, days 6 to 12 |
| 14 days | 4D3N, days 1 to 4 | Day 5 travel, night in Sorong | 8 nights, days 6 to 14 |
| 17 days | 5D4N, days 1 to 5 | Day 6 travel, night in Sorong | 10 nights, days 7 to 17 |

Which park first
Komodo first, ending in Sorong, is the order we plan most often: the Komodo package has a fixed rhythm and a late-morning return that feeds an afternoon flight. Reverse it when your international flight suits Sorong on the way in, or when the Raja Ampat vessel’s date is fixed and the Komodo charter flexes around it.
One charter or two
Two separate charters
The standard answer. The Komodo leg is a private charter on a rate-card boat below or another vessel in our private yacht charter Komodo range; for a shared departure, the Komodo sailing packages hub lists the open trips. The Raja Ampat leg is a vessel from our Raja Ampat yacht charter range. One desk coordinates both quotations and the transfers.
A single vessel that repositions
A vessel willing to sail between the two parks with guests aboard would be a multi-week expedition with open-sea passages; whether one is available for your dates and group is quoted per vessel and route. We do not sell it as a package; ask at the first enquiry.
What the Komodo leg costs on the 2027 rate card
The 2027 B2C private charter rate card (Final Edition 11 September 2026, checked 12 September 2026) lists four boats booked through our desk. Rates are USD per private charter package for the whole vessel and the guest band shown: not per person, not per night, not multiplied.

Malca’s card also lists an additional-guest row (USD 450 on 4D3N, USD 600 on 5D4N), applied per quotation. For larger groups and divers, LASHA, a 10-cabin yacht booked through our desk, is sold at the rate published on lashacruise.com. The card’s disclaimer covers every row: “Rates are presented for review and are not a booking offer. Itinerary, services, taxes, payment and cancellation terms must be confirmed in the individual quotation.”
How the Raja Ampat leg is priced
There is no rate card for Raja Ampat, so no figures appear here. The Raja Ampat vessels we quote are booked through our reservations desk and priced per vessel and dates, per voyage rather than per night; the quotation lists the vessel, voyage length, boarding point (Sorong or Waisai), guest count, inclusions and the items billed separately. The private trip Raja Ampat page describes the private format.

What sits outside both prices
- Komodo National Park fees: quoted separately at the rate set by the park authority at the time of travel.
- Raja Ampat entry permit: quoted separately.
- Flights, diving and connection hotel nights: booked or quoted after both boats are confirmed.
The written quotation is the figure that applies.
Booking a 2027 combined trip: deposit, balance and timing
Our published policy: a 50% down payment secures a booking, and full payment is due no later than 30 days before departure. For bookings made one year in advance, a 30% deposit confirms the charter, a further 20% is paid 120 days before the trip, and the balance is due 30 days before departure. The terms of the respective vessel apply to certain vessels, so a two-vessel trip can carry two sets of terms. Children aged 3 years and above are charged the full rate.
We publish no lead-time statistics. Availability is checked for your exact dates; once you decide, the desk reconfirms both vessels during office hours (09:00 to 17:00 WITA), can place a 2 x 24-hour hold where the vessel allows it, and sends the deposit link. The booking exists once the deposit is paid.
When both parks are at their best
The two parks run on different calendars. Read Komodo vs Raja Ampat for the season comparison, then best time to cruise in Raja Ampat and best time to visit Raja Ampat; divers should also check Raja Ampat diving spots.
Questions our reservations desk hears
Can we combine Komodo and Raja Ampat in one trip, and which park should come first?
Yes, as a 12 to 17 day journey with two boarding points. Komodo first, ending in Sorong, is the usual order; reverse it when your international flight suits Sorong on the way in.
How do we get from Labuan Bajo to Sorong, and is there a direct flight?
At the time of checking we are not aware of a scheduled direct service. Guests connect through Bali or Jakarta, sometimes Makassar, with an overnight; verify the schedule for your dates.
How many days do we need for Komodo and Raja Ampat together?
Plan 12 to 17 days: three or four nights in Komodo, a connection day, then roughly six to ten nights in Raja Ampat, examples only; each vessel’s voyage lengths are in its quotation.
Is it one boat for both parks or two separate charters?
Normally two, coordinated by one desk: a Komodo private charter from Labuan Bajo and a Raja Ampat vessel from Sorong. Whether a single vessel can carry you between the parks is quoted per vessel and route.
How far ahead should we book a 2027 combined charter, and what deposit applies?
There is no fixed window; we check availability per date. A 50% deposit secures a booking, balance 30 days before departure; a year ahead, 30% then 20% at 120 days. Vessel terms may apply.
Are the Komodo National Park fees and the Raja Ampat entry permit included in the price?
No. Komodo National Park fees are quoted separately at the rate set by the park authority at the time of travel; the Raja Ampat entry permit is quoted separately too.
Send us your dates, group size and whether anyone dives; the desk replies with two quotations and a connection plan. Start from our Raja Ampat tour packages, pair it with a Komodo private charter, and we confirm availability for your exact dates in writing.
