This is the itinerary our intro has always promised — "anchorages day boats never reach" — spelled out: five days across Komodo National Park and west Flores (condensed; the 7D6N details that half), then three days in the volcanic ring where the park ends and the expedition begins.
Sangeang is an active volcano rising straight from the sea — its black-sand slopes hide champagne reefs where volcanic gas bubbles through coral, one of Indonesia's strangest dives. Banta, next door, is all ridgelines and empty bays; Gili Banta's channel runs manta traffic in season with not one other boat on the horizon.
The coda that fits this fleet: Wera on Sumbawa's coast is one of the last villages where phinisi hulls are still raised by hand on the beach — ribs, dowels and generations of boatwrights.
