Realistically, no, an adult human swallowed whole isn’t something that happens. A small child could theoretically fall within a large dragon’s physical range, which is exactly why park rules on distance and supervision exist. Beyond that, the honest answer is more nuanced: technically possible in a narrow sense, but virtually never how it actually plays out in the wild.
The “technically possible” part comes down to raw feeding capacity, Komodo dragons can consume an enormous share of their own body weight in a single sitting, especially after going a long time without food, when their metabolism is primed to store a massive meal all at once. But biological capacity isn’t the same as reality. Swallowing an adult human torso whole is physically beyond what a Komodo dragon’s jaw structure allows. Goats and juvenile deer get swallowed in stages; a human body is a different scale of problem entirely. Instead, Komodos rely on their teeth and jaw strength to rip prey apart piece by piece, starting with softer areas and working through the body with powerful neck muscles, a process built around dismemberment, not a single swallow.
In the wild, their actual diet is dominated by deer, wild boar, water buffalo, and carrion. Humans simply aren’t a practical or preferred food source, and dragons are ambush feeders wired for animals that fit their normal hunting pattern, not people.
