A Komodo boat tour 3 days 2 nights on a shared boat means you book a cabin, not the boat, on a scheduled phinisi sailing from Labuan Bajo. Our reservations desk sells these cabins on four boats whose calendars it manages: from USD 300 per person (Malca, Triple Room, three sharing) to USD 850 (Naturalia, Sandal cabin, 2027), rate cards checked 24 September 2026, park ticket separate. Komodo Luxury (Labuan Bajo, since 2015) runs the Friday departure on all four boats and the Monday departure on Ayvara and Malca. Below: who is on board, each cabin per person, the departure rhythm, and how a cabin is held and paid.
Quick answer (24 September 2026): a Komodo open trip 3D2N is sold per cabin, per person, on four boats: Malca, Ayvara, Catnazse and Naturalia. Rates run from USD 300 to USD 850 per person by cabin and sailing year; park ticket separate. Departures: Friday on all four boats, Monday on Ayvara and Malca. The desk confirms your cabin in writing.

What is a Komodo open trip 3D2N, and who is on board?
A Komodo open trip is a scheduled shared sailing of three days and two nights, sold per cabin, on a fixed Friday-to-Sunday or Monday-to-Wednesday rhythm. You board on the morning of day one and dock before noon on day three; the deck, meals and route are shared, the cabin is yours. Ayvara carries up to 15 guests in 7 cabins, Malca 21 in 7, Catnazse 18 in 8 and Naturalia 24 in 8, each with crew, chef and guide. Our open-trip terms set a minimum of ten guests per departure; with fewer, the desk moves you to another boat on the same dates rather than cancelling. Children are welcome under full parental supervision. The formats are compared in our guide to shared cabin vs private cabin on a Komodo open trip.
From our reservations desk. Of 11,254 guest messages to our concierge desk (2025 to 2026), 1,900 touched cabins and sharing, our largest theme, 1,261 of them in September 2026; a further 689 asked about the open trip itself. The questions behind them, in the order answered here: shared room or private cabin (279 messages, 209 conversations); balcony or ocean view (225 / 124); is this date still available (298 / 240); can I join solo (116 / 84); family of five, which cabins (99 / 62).
Which boats sail the shared 3D2N route, and what does each cabin cost per person?
Four phinisi with calendars on our desk: Malca, Ayvara, Catnazse and Naturalia. The figures below are USD published rates per person for the full 3D2N voyage, from the 2026 and 2027 open-trip rate cards, checked 24 September 2026; Malca and Ayvara keep the same figures in 2027, Catnazse and Naturalia rise, so your sailing year sets the column. A private charter is the whole boat for your group alone, priced per package by guest band: from USD 6,000 for 3D2N with 1 to 12 guests on Malca (2026 and 2027), on the whole-boat private trip page.

When do Komodo open trips depart: Friday, Monday, or both?
Friday first, Monday second. Of 310 open-trip sailings on our scheduling roster from July 2024 to September 2026, 230 left on a Friday and 80 on a Monday, none on another day; all 309 with a recorded duration ran three days. On the 2026 calendar the Friday-to-Sunday sailing runs on all four boats; Monday-to-Wednesday runs on Ayvara and Malca, with Catnazse and Naturalia only on listed dates. The last September 2026 sailings are Friday 25 to Sunday 27 and Monday 28 to Wednesday 30.
Rate cards for 2027 are published for all four boats and the desk has invoiced 2027 sailings since May 2026; dated 2027 departures are confirmed per boat when you book. Midweek dates go to the Monday to Wednesday open trip page; a Thursday gives you either sailing.
Solo, couple or family: which cabin should I book?
Every private cabin is priced per person on double occupancy; that rule decides most choices.
Solo travellers
A sharing berth is one bed in a cabin shared with another guest on the same departure: Malca’s Triple Room USD 330; Catnazse’s Grandis USD 450 (single bed) or USD 470 (double bed), USD 480 and USD 490 in 2027; Naturalia’s Tide USD 460 or USD 470, then USD 470 and USD 490. A cabin to yourself costs the two-person total; Malca publishes single occupancy of a Double Room at USD 550. More in our open trip guide for solo travellers.
Koppels
Balcony cabins in 2026 price order: Ayvara Deluxe (USD 530) and Master (USD 570), Malca Master Ocean View with bathtub (USD 580), Catnazse Santalum 2 and 1 with bathtub (USD 650 and USD 680; USD 740 and USD 770 in 2027), Naturalia Azure (USD 710; USD 770) and Sandal with king bed and bathtub (USD 800; USD 850). Lowest bands for two: Malca Double or Triple Room USD 400, Naturalia Lagoon USD 400 (USD 450 in 2027).
Families and groups of three or four
Five cabins take three or four, and the per-person rate falls as the cabin fills: Malca Quad Room (USD 330 each at four), Catnazse Grandis family (USD 430 at four; USD 460 in 2027), Naturalia Breeze (USD 430; USD 460), Tide (USD 430; USD 460, two bathrooms) and Aurea (USD 470; USD 480, private jacuzzi). Extra beds: USD 330 on Ayvara’s Master and Malca’s Master and Deluxe; USD 350 on Naturalia’s Coral and Sandal (USD 370 in 2027). Child-sized snorkelling gear is not carried on board, so bring your child’s own. Tell the desk early if your party is five or more, so it can hold cabins on one departure.
What happens on each of the three days?
The published shared itinerary runs Labuan Bajo to Labuan Bajo. The Harbour Master regulates all sailing, so any itinerary is tentative and may change with sea conditions; some boats swap Rinca for Komodo Island or Kanawa for Sebayur.
- Day 1, Friday or Monday. Pick-up 08:00 to 09:00 from your Labuan Bajo hotel; Kelor Island around 11:00 for a short, steep trek and lunch on board; a first snorkel at Manjarite; Kalong Island at anchor for the fruit bats at sunset; dinner and night one.
- Day 2. Padar Island from 06:00 for the sunrise trek, then breakfast; Pink Beach for a swim and snorkel; Komodo Island for the ranger-guided walk. Sightings are not guaranteed; the ranger-guided walk is how you look for them. Manta Point when conditions allow, the Taka Makassar sandbar, night two.
- Day 3. Breakfast, a last snorkel at Sebayur or Kanawa, and the boat docks between 11:00 and 12:00 at the latest; drop-off at your hotel or the airport is included. Book a same-day flight departing at 14:00 or later, and ask for the docking time in writing before you book onward flights; per-boat windows are in pick-up and return times for Komodo boat tours.

What is included, and what do I pay separately?
The published rate covers the cabin for two nights, all meals, mineral water, coffee and tea, the guide, snorkelling gear and a life vest, transfers between your hotel or the airport and the harbour within the Labuan Bajo mainland, and trip footage from a drone, GoPro and mirrorless camera as raw files. A jacuzzi, bathtub or balcony belongs to the named boat and cabin, not to the package.
The Komodo National Park ticket is excluded from the trip price, set under PP 36/2024 as displayed by the Balai: IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, IDR 50,000 per Indonesian visitor per day (IDR 75,000 on Sundays and public holidays); our desk registers guests, pays the park and lists the park line separately on the invoice. Since 22 September 2026 the park admits visitors only on the date printed on the e-ticket; quota is the park’s, confirmed at registration, and no operator can promise it. Purchased tickets are non-refundable; a date change means registering again for a date with available quota. Details: Komodo National Park quota update, September 2026.
Not included: flights, alcohol and drinks beyond water, coffee and tea, personal snacks, crew gratuities, and the park’s drone fee if you fly your own (application seven days before the trip).
How do I hold a cabin, and how far ahead should I book?
About two months ahead is the pattern for bookings reaching our desk, and roughly nine in ten invoice requests to our finance desk (November 2025 to September 2026) are open-trip cabins. Balcony and family cabins go first; dates are managed one by one and availability is confirmed at registration.
- Send your dates and guest count, with children’s ages and any cabin or boat preference. We check availability for your exact dates and confirm it in writing.
- Choose the cabin. The desk sends one figure for your cabin, occupancy and sailing year, park ticket as its own line per person.
- Hold. A cabin can only be held for 2 x 24 hours (48 hours), placed in office hours, while you complete the reservation form and sign the terms.
- Pay. The booking is confirmed when the deposit stated on your payment link is settled (the standard open-trip schedule is a 50% deposit); the balance is due by the balance date printed on your invoice. Payments are non-refundable per the booking terms on your invoice and our terms and conditions page.
- Park registration. Send each guest’s full name as in the passport, passport number, nationality and gender; the desk registers the e-ticket for your sailing dates and confirms it in writing.
- Arrive the day before. We strongly recommend that our guests arrive one day before the trip begins; the desk confirms the pick-up window the evening before.
