The route, the boat, the meals and the crew are the same on both departures. Four things change: the price floor, the crowd level, the flight pairing and the kind of traveller on board.

• Flight pairing. Pickup on day one is between 08:00 and 09:00 from your hotel in Labuan Bajo, so arrive the day before departure: land on Sunday for a Monday sailing, on Thursday for a Friday sailing. Three practical rules follow from the pattern. First, a month with five Fridays has five weekend departures, so the month-end sailings that cross into the next month (30 July to 1 August, 31 December to 2 January) are ordinary departures, not specials. Second, because the four boats share one pattern, a full boat on your date does not mean a full week: the same date may still be open on another of the four, and the desk checks all of them at once.
