While diving is possible year-round, December through March marks the rainy season. During this time, you can still dive, but expect more rain, rougher seas, and reduced visibility. Despite these conditions, this is still a beautiful time to experience Alor and Maumere, particularly for those seeking a quieter, off-peak experience.
Travelers can reach Alor via a domestic flight from Bali or Jakarta, connecting in Kupang, then continuing to Kalabahi Airport. Direct flights from Bali to Alor are available at certain times of the year.
Maumere is easily accessible by direct flights from Bali (Denpasar) or Makassar to Frans Seda Airport (MOF) in Flores. Many divers choose to visit Alor and Maumere as part of a liveaboard route or an overland Flores tour, linking these remote yet stunning dive destinations seamlessly.
