Siaba Island is widely nicknamed “Turtle City” for its consistently high population of green and hawksbill turtles resting and feeding on a shallow coral garden. The site is characterised by gentle currents and is recognised as one of the most beginner-friendly dive and snorkel sites in Komodo National Park. Siaba Island refers to two small islands in the central area of Komodo National Park, namely Siaba Besar and Siaba Kecil in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The primary snorkeling and diving site is located in the sheltered northwest bay of Siaba Besar, known for its shallow coral garden and frequent green turtle encounters, which give it the nickname “Turtle City.” Siaba Besar is characterised by calm, beginner-friendly conditions, while Siaba Kecil offers a more advanced diving environment with stronger currents and richer macro life. Together, both islands form part of Komodo National Park’s recognised marine tourism zones, each serving different roles within central Komodo diving and cruising routes.
Siaba Island is located in the central-northern part of Komodo National Park, within the Flores Sea in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The main snorkeling and diving area lies in the sheltered northwest bay of Siaba Besar, which is typically reached from Labuan Bajo by Komodo liveaboard or private yacht in around 2–4 hours, depending on sea conditions. In the context of Komodo itineraries, Siaba Besar sits within the central Komodo route alongside well-known sites such as Batu Bolong, Tatawa, and Manta Point. Its location within Komodo National Park also means all visits operate under regulated marine conservation zones and standard park entry requirements.
